Climate Matters - Spring Meeting
This meeting with Charlie Maynard is on Saturday April 12th from 11am.
It’s free, of course, but you will need to book here on Eventbrite.
What’s it going to be about?
Mostly parliament, this time. Most of us feel that politics isn’t working well for climate issues. We’re in a climate emergency – officially accepted as such by Parliament. Why, then, is politics unable to prioritise this? Why does climate change always take second place to other issues – ‘growth’, for example?
Is it a matter of ego and self-interest? Fear of losing power? Polls, party politics and the whip? Misinformation, disinformation, and voter manipulation? Dark money, vested interests, and secretive big donors? Maybe it’s just ignorance?
What is it, and what can be done about it? Something surely can – the Welsh Senedd is giving it a go and parliament has a new modernisation committee looking around.
Charlie Maynard, our still rather new MP, has agreed to address this urgent but complicated issue, and he will take our questions. Bring yours!
Charlie is also deeply involved in the ongoing court case against Thames water. He’ll update us and talk about the way forward. This matters!
See you on April 12th…
